This typical Bari recipe is commonly considered a snack to be enjoyed any time of day, anywhere (it's no coincidence that it's a Bari street food staple ) , but it can also be an ideal lunch or dinner starter... some people even eat it for breakfast!

When you buy it from a bakery, it's advisable to add some cured meats, especially mortadella; in Bari , the perfect pairing is focaccia with mortadella .
For those who don't like tomato skin, there's also a white version, without tomato and with a little oregano...but it's not quite the same.
