The Old Port: a meeting point just steps from the old town

If you love beer and nightlife , then you probably won't rule out the possibility of taking a trip to the old port of Bari , specifically to the San Nicola pier, behind the Margherita theatre (the theatre built on the sea).

The San Nicola pier , also known in the Bari dialect as "N-dèrre la lanze," is one of the most historic and traditional places in town, and one that best represents the characteristic features of Bari. It's a place with two faces: in the morning it's frequented by fishermen and their market, while in the evening it becomes a must-see for many young people who want to enjoy a beer on the pier .

In this area, in fact, there is an open-air beer garden which over time has become a real meeting for many Bari residents and, for some time now, also for tourists .

The old port is not far from the old town and is easily accessible even from the opposite side of the seafront . In the evening, especially with the arrival of warmer days, the San Nicola pier transforms into a veritable hub for seaside entertainment.

So if you decide to take a stroll along the Bari seafront and pamper your palate with some Bari street food , you could also stop by the old port afterwards to enjoy a cold beer.
