A dive into the past: Cala Port'Alga
Among boats and white houses, the charming fishermen's cove of Polignano a Mare
There are places in Polignano a Mare where time seems to have stood still, such as this fantastic cove in the southernmost part of town.
It's a small, yet characteristic , corner of Puglia that still manages to retain the typical atmosphere of a fishing village , complemented by the color and clarity of Polignano . It's not, of course, a beach with all the amenities, but it's a cove worth visiting and, why not, even taking a dip in its splendid sea; in fact, despite the presence of the typical boats , people still flock to the inviting waters of Cala Port' Alga , so clear and clean.
Being very small, Cala Port' Alga obviously doesn't have much space to lay out with towels and umbrellas. However, since it's not a full-fledged beach, it's not particularly crowded, which is why a spot by the sea is relatively easy to find. It's worth noting, however, that travelers and tourists are very interested in capturing this charming landscape from above, with its fishermen's terraces overlooking the sea (almost reminiscent of typical Greek villages) , the colorful boats on the transparent water , and the rocks that frame this almost picturesque landscape.

This charming glimpse of Polignano a Mare could certainly be the ideal place to spend a few hours enjoying an almost surreal atmosphere, where sea, history, and tradition blend together in a mix of relaxation and good health, given the area's
pristine nature Speaking of relaxation, there's another truly curious aspect that you'll inevitably encounter during your little excursion to this splendid cove : a bookcase made from a boat (you'll find it in the following images by scrolling down this page) with a message that reads "Take a book, leave a book ." This attraction, nestled amidst the lush vegetation that characterizes this place, is likely something you won't fail to notice during your stroll.
How do you get to this cove? Luckily, there's a road that's easily accessible by car and leads to a designated parking ; From this point you will find two passages right in front of you, the first is a white door (photo on the left) that allows you to enjoy a panoramic view from above, while the second passage is the one that will take you right inside the cove passing by the small terraces of the fishermen's houses.
Along your route, you might also come across some friendly cats that frequent the area and take a nap on the surrounding walls every day (just like they do in Greece) , a small detail that will create even more enthusiasm for those who love animals and nature.
