From poor cuisine to a flagship product of street food: the tasty fried panzerotto!
Fried panzerotto is a typical specialty of Bari and Puglia that has satisfied the palates of adults and children for many years.
It is a dough, very similar to that of pizza, filled with tomato and mozzarella (as tradition dictates) and fried in seed oil.
However, the panzerotto can be filled in many ways, basically depending on your tastes;
there are those who prefer it filled with meat, those with mortadella and provolone, those with stracciatella and salami, etc. Therefore the panzerotto di Bari , being a rotisserie product, falls within what we can define as "street food" , and is so consumed in Bari that you absolutely cannot miss it.
